1.4 mil.-year-old hominid remains found in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA (AFP-Jiji) Archaeologists in Ethiopia have discovered the remains of human forebears more than 1.4 million years old, the Ethiopian Herald reported Saturday.

Remains of Australopithecus boisei, 1.4 million years old, and of Homo erectus, between 1.35 million and 1.45 million years old, were found at the Konso site in southern Ethiopia, the Authority for the Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage said.

Stone tools between 700,000 and 2 million years old were also found at the same site.
