Edward Frank Jordan
His family announced today that Edward Frank Jordan, 65, died of heart failure on Friday, March 14, 2006 in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida. He was cremated and his ashes distributed, as was his wish, in the southern New Jersey area of his birth.
Jordan was art director and illustrator for the Boston Avatar during the late 1960s and 1970s. He was the subject of a lengthy court battle over 5th Amendment rights relating to that publication's use of language. Following his experience with Avatar, he published Spirit magazine in the Newburyport area and sold artwork, both his own and other artists'. For several years, he has operated a one-man sign shop, specializing in unique signage for small business while continuing his own painting.
Fans of American Bandstand may remember him as Eddie on the program during the early 1960s.
Jordan leaves a son, Patrick Michael, and a sister, Elaine.
