Redonda
Antigua's second dependency, 35 miles to the southwest and at half a mile square, is little more than a rocky volcanic islet and is uninhabited. Columbus sighted the island on 12 November 1493 and named it after a church in Cadiz called Santa María la Redonda. He did not land, however, and thus did not formally claim the island. Neither did anyone else until 1865 when Matthew Dowdy Shiell, an Irish sea-trader from Montserrat, celebrated the birth of a long-awaited son by leading an expedition of friends to Redonda and claiming it as his kingdom. In 1872, the island was annexed by Britain and came under the jurisdiction of the colony of Antigua, despite protests from the Shiells. The Title of King was not disputed, however, and has survived to this day. The island was never inhabited although for some years guano was extracted by the Redonda Phosphate Company until the works were blown away by a hurricane......Meanwhile, on Redonda, all is much the same for the goats, lizards and sea birds, who live an undisturbed life apart from the occasional bird watcher who might come to find the burrowing owl, now extinct on Antigua.

THE SHERLOCK HOLMES OF THE MOUSE WORLD "The Great Mouse Detective" was inspired by the "Basil of Baker Street" stories* (1958) by Eve Titus. Basil who was likely named after actor Basil Rathbone, best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is an English mouse detective who lives in a basement at 221B Baker Street, home of the Great Detective himself.

Guyana
Formerly British Guiana, officially the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, located in northern South America, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, between Suriname and Venezuela. Guyana achieved independence from the UK in 1966 and became a republic in 1970. In 1989 Guyana launched an Economic Recovery Program, which marked a dramatic reversal from a state-controlled, socialist economy towards a more open, free market system. Results through the first decade have proven encouraging. Area: 214,970 sq km, Population: 697,286 (July, 2000 est.)
